Yesterday morning I gave Ewen different juice for his breakfast. In fact, in response to his request of Monday morning.

Dad and Iain both drink fresh orange juice, but Ewen simply will not drink it. He instead only approves of apple juice. Mom, on the other hand, occasionally has what is a mixture of mango and apple juice. Most mornings Ewen pleads to try some of Mom's juice, however, Monday morning Mom denied his request and suggested he have it instead of apple juice the next morning. So he placed his order. And, surprisingly, I remembered.

With the glasses all prepared with the relevant juices, I placed them on the table. Ewen almost immediately became quite distressed that he didn't drink this juice. Mind you, it does look similar to orange juice in colour. Once pacified that it wasn't in fact orange juice, he relaxed and tried the contents of his glass. Needless to say, he was distinctly pleased.

It was back to apple juice for Ewen this morning, but he expressed a preference for the other juice. I explained that, sadly, there wasn't enough for both him and Mummy, so he would have to settle for apple juice. He was okay with that, and proceeded to explain to mummy that he had had Trochillcal juice yesterday. Tropical juice to us constrained minds.

Supper time tonight and Iain had already spilt his cup of water. Having finished most of his meal, he picked up his cup and gesticulated that he wanted it filled. I was about head towards the tap, but asked whether he wanted water. He shook his head and pointed towards the fridge.

I offered him milk, tropical fruit juice and even orange juice, all of which he vehemently denied. Though, having said that, he wasn't all that sure about the tropical fruit carton. By this time, both Clare and myself were struggling to keep straight faces. Clare then suggested I try the AJ, which was purposely my last choice. As soon as Iain saw the carton, his broadened into a smile and he nodded vigourously. Yes! It was apple juice he was after all along, and knew exactly what the carton looked like.

Pleased as punch, he drank most of it.

Ewen had been invited to a birthday party of one of the children under the care of his childminder, and we left him there to enjoy the play time while the two us took Iain for a little time together.

Van Hage's seemed a good choice what with the limited time available to us. Coffee came first on the agenda and Dad kept Iain well amused while Mum queued for the refreshments. He took great pleasure in the tickles applied to his stomach.

We ventured towards the miniature railway in the hopes it ran after four in the afternoon. It did, and Iain paid for Mummy's ticket. There was certainly no holding him back when the train came into the "station". He climbed on before you could say "boo!"

Liike the clarity of the title of this entry, Iain repeated the word twice. With the biggest smile too!! After disembarking the train, we meant to pass time by meandering along the aisles. Iain preferred a return trip to the train.

Ewen had barely noticed our absence, and was still enjoying the play time when we returned to collect him. The kids were having such a whale of a time, they hadn't even done the cake celebration yet. Consequently, Iain had half an hour to join in the fun.
