It's all calm and quiet with the boys, and Mom, either sleeping or resting. The madness of discovering the contents of all the gifts of Christmas has slowly abated. The stress too, ;-). Those that have experienced Christmas with little kids will comprehend the such a comment.

However, it has been a good time to remember the reason we have the time of celebration of giving. Ewen will, after a little prompting, confirm whose birthday it was yesterday. His first response is it's his, which is understandable given his age. He fervently opened each gift placed in front of him. In fact, we spent most of the day opening presents at one time or another.

The day started with Ewen, quite surprisingly, waking at a quarter past seven. Iain had already been in and out of our bed since 6:15. The morning was like any other as far as Ewen was concerned. He hadn't even noticed the stuffed Christmas stocking lying at the bottom of his bed. The small presents were opened with some excitement once they had been pointed out to him and Iain.

Iain wasn't quite certain what to do--he would take each gift to either Daddy or Mommy to open it a little. The approach towards the gifts was quite different between the boys: Ewen, once realising there were more, would open one after the other; Iain, on the otherhand, would play with the toy until he was advised there was another and another in the stocking.

Once the stockings were exhausted we descended to the lounge to unwrap the big presents left under the Christmas tree. Both boys remarkably left the gifts lying untouched under the tree. The only one that was unwrapped before Christmas had been left on the coffee table, and Iain thought it was fair game. To keep events calm, we unwrapped a present each, followed by breakfast, which was quite hurried. Church was later than usual, albeit by 15 minutes, at 9h30. Ewen provided a little mirth in the service too. The Pastor, enquiring of kids of their wares, asked Ewen what he had received. He replied, "A bin man!"

There was some consternation until the clarification of, "Rubbish truck men!" The congregation chuckled at this strange gift, though it was part of a Play Mobil refuse truck. Ewen is completely enamoured with it. Keeps loading the refuse area with all sorts of toys. Not that that's why they are there. Likely to limit Iain's ability to play with them.

Iain has enjoyed the sounds that come from the Fisher Price playground that he received, along with the tractor that pulls a tractor with a sheep. Tractor is becoming quite a familiar word to him now. Ask him what it is, and he'll tell you it's a "twactra". It is actually quite easy to hear him say it too, there is no doubting what he is describing. Though the same cannot be said for his request of "foowhaer!" Or something along those lines. It has be heard to be understood.

He wants something to drink!

All the presents were opened by day's end. And the boys are mightily happy with their gifts. There is the odd struggle for possession, but then I guess it would be surprising if there weren't.

Hopefully, you were all blessed with the gifts you've received. Most importantly, the gift of this life, and our eternal one in Him who came to save. God bless!
